Day 3

So far...

Things have gone pretty well! I'm happy to report that the reason I wasn't a fan of the shakes on Day 1 was because Grant only used 1 scoop of each powder instead of 2! When he got home the first night we tried it again, with some blender advice from Tanya (3/4 cup water 1 cup ice), and it was so delicious!

The next morning we tried a berry Formula 1 with the chocolate protein and it was yummy!

The herbal tea that we have to drink twice a day is pretty awesome. It makes us feel so much more energized than we did before. I think my biggest problem is going to be remembering to take the pills when I'm supposed to. I seem to be able to remember when I'm having a shake as a meal, but not when I'm eating my regular meal.

So far I've lost 3.8 lbs! Is that even real though, or did I just lose some water weight? I'd love to be under 200 by the end of the month. I really think I can do it. My next step is making myself go to the gym. That's going to be the hardest part for me.

Week 1

Our Decision to Start

For a long time, years before we even knew each other, Grant and I have wanted to lose weight.  Neither have us have ever been especially happy with the way that we looked.  Separately we had both tried lots of other diets, like the South Beach Diet, the 4 hour body, the 3 day diet, protein shakes, really the list could go on.

We were approached with the option of starting Herbalife as a way to lose weight.  I wasn't too keen on it, but Grant had a buddy who had done it and lost a lot of weight and was happy.  So, Grant convinced me to at least try it out.

We met with a Herbalife representative to start the program.  We decided that Grant would sign up as a distributor so that we could get a 35% discount on the products.  As of now we have only distributed to ourselves and we have no plans of selling to anyone else.  If this product works as well as we think and hope it will, we may be able to sell it to people we know, just by them seeing a change.

For the first time, we're each starting a weight-loss venture with a partner, and we're hoping that'll make all the difference. Especially when it's too hard to have a shake when all I really want is a big greasy pizza. Grant'll be there to remind me what we're working towards.

We have our end goals, and we have some short term ones too. I really want to fit into a gorgeous purple dress that I've never been able to wear. Grant wants his friends and family to see a noticeable difference when he goes home to visit for his brother's graduation in May.

We might cheat a little bit. But we won't punish ourselves. We've already decided that every 2 weeks we'll go out to dinner on a date to celebrate what we've done so far.

And so we begin.

Minty Breakfast

I had to work at 8 a.m. today, and Grant was such a sweetie to put everything out that I would need for my first Herbalife day. He even made me a shake the night before and put it in the fridge. He's so sweet.

I drank my mint chocolate formula 1 shake with chocolate protein added for breakfast. I took my Multivitamin and Cellulose pills too.

The shake wasn't too bad. It tasted like a diet mint chocolate milkshake-not awful, but not wonderful either. This will be something for me to get used to.

After the shake I had some peach tea. It still had a little bit of that Diet Coke Aspartame taste that I loathe, but I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

For a mid-morning snack I had a Herbalife chocolate peanut butter protein bar. It was actually pretty good.

After work I had a dutch chocolate shake with chocolate protein. I wasn't a big fan. I'm feeling hungry and like I really need some real food. I think I'm going to have to go out and buy some hummus or something for some snacks.

I plan to make a grilled chicken breast with some broccoli for dinner. Hopefully that'll fill me up.

I'm looking forward to tasting more flavors tomorrow. Maybe the vanilla or very berry will speak to me a little more!
